Oliver Low


Principal Physiotherapist

Oliver is one of the principal Physiotherapists at Beachlands Physio, he is also a principal at Marina Physio. Oliver has a strong interest in manual therapy, acupuncture and sports Physiotherapy and has completed his Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and acupuncture

Oliver has worked with Elite level sports teams for several years. He currently works and travels with Athletics New Zealand, which has involved being part of the medical team at World Championships and Commonwealth games. He has also had a large involvement with New Zealand and Auckland hockey. Previously as the lead Physiotherapist the the New Zealand U21 Mens team, which involved 2 World cups.

Derek Timmins

Derek graduated from his physiotherapy degree at AUT University in 2000. Following his interests in acupuncture he completed a further two years of study to become a Registered Physiotherapy Acupuncturist and is the current President of the Physiotherapy Acupuncture Association of New Zealand. Derek is also a guest lecturer on the Post Graduate Certificate in Western Acupuncture at AUT University.

Derek has worked in Private practices in Hamilton, Sydney and since 2005 in East Auckland, where he is also a Principal Physiotherapist at Pakuranga Physiotherapy and Marina Physio. Derek uses his skills in mobilisation, manipulation, acupuncture and exercise prescription to help clients return to pre-injury health and improve function.

Derek is a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist credentialled by Dr Melissa Davidson (Specialist Physiotherapist). He can treat incontinence and pelvic pain as well as other pelvic health conditions. Derek is a member of NZ Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Group, Continence NZ and the International Continence Society.
Derek is also certified with the Titleist Performance Institute to help golfers reduce injury risk and improve their swing.

Outside of work, Derek enjoys watersports, spending time with his family and playing guitar and mandolin.

Joanna Cook

Jo graduated from Otago School of Physiotherapy in 1989. She has worked in private practices both within and outside NZ as well as owning her own private practice in Northland.

Jo began working for Pakuranga Physiotherapy in 2000 and is now one of the Principal Physiotherapists there.

With 20 + years of experience, Jo treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions with special interests in acupuncture, chronic pain and dance injuries. She is also a Pelvic Health Physiotherapist specialising in the treatment of incontinence and pelvic pain. She is a member of NZ Women’s, Men’s & Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Group, Women’s Health Training Associates (Australia) and Continence NZ.

Outside work hours Jo enjoys spending time with her family, travel, cooking and jogging.

Vanessa van der Westhuizen


Physiotherapist

BPhyst (Physiotherapy), MPNZ

Vanessa graduated at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy . She went on to work in the United Kingdom for 2 years and then returned to South Africa where she worked at a Private Practice and went on to co-own the Practice.
Vanessa is very passionate about her line of work and enjoys treating neck injuries, persistent headaches, as well as sports injuries. Vanessa loves combining hands on physio with an exercise program to help rehabilitate injuries and get patients back to their pre injury level faster.
In her spare time, Vanessa pays netball and enjoys running. She also loves exploring what New Zealand has to offer including regular outings to the beach with her family.

Rachel Williams


Physiotherapist

BPhty, MPNZ

Rachel graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2006. She has over 10+ years experience working in private practice in Wellington and Auckland, and has completed a number of courses in manual therapy, dry needling, and Pilates. In 2016 she became a Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP).

Through playing multiple sports at a national and regional level herself, Rachel is all too familiar with injury. She believes the combination of hands-on physiotherapy and exercise prescription to be the most effective for complete rehabilitation and prevention of further injuries. She has a passion for returning people to their pre-injury level of function, and firmly believes that patient education and body awareness plays a big role in this.

Outside of work Rachel likes running, playing netball and spending time in the great outdoors with her husband and daughter.

Jasmin Jolly


Physiotherapist

BHSc (physiotherapy), MPNZ

Jasmin graduated from AUT in 2016. Since then, she has been working in Private practices in Howick and Auckland CBD working with a wide range of patients. Jasmin is passionate about how Physiotherapy helps people to move better, achieve their goals, address the cause of their pain and improve everyday function. She has worked with both senior rugby, senior football and national level youth touch teams as well as people of all ages and fitness levels in the clinic. She has completed post graduate courses in dry needling, myofascial release techniques, manual therapy techniques and is a Bradcliff Breathing Practitioner.
In her free time Jasmin enjoys keeping fit at the gym, playing hockey, skiing and hiking to explore the beautiful country we live in.

Shany Rotenberg


Physiotherapist

BHSc (physiotherapy), MPNZ

Shany graduated from Auckland University of Technology with a BSc in Physiotherapy. She has experience in private practice, sports, community, and hospital settings.

Her treatments typically include manual therapy, tailored exercise prescription, goal setting, and providing clear education regarding injury management. Going above and beyond to ensure her patients are looked after throughout their recovery journey is important to her.

Shany is also a passionate Pilates and fitness instructor, teaching classes at ALLFIT gym and at the brand-new retirement village. Outside the workplace, she enjoys hiking, tramping, dancing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends

Pania Wirihana

Pania has been an active & vibrant Beachlands community member for the last 20 years & arrives with over 22 years Administrative experience working within various global companies.

She loves customer interactions & is committed to delivering great customer service with her warm hospitality & welcoming smile.

Pania enjoys music, travelling, walking her dog along the local beaches & spending time with family & friends.

Viktoria Metz


Receptionist

Vicky has grown up in the Beachlands community and has begun to develop a keen interest in Physiotherapy. As a dancer she has had plenty of physiotherapy treatments herself and understands the human body.
She is currently studying Physiotherapy at AUT and is enjoying the Receptionist role within a Physiotherapy clinic to see how all the pieces of the clinic fit together. She is also a bright friendly face ready who is only too happy to help clients through their Physiotherapy journey.
In her spare time Vicky enjoys spending time in nature, practicing yoga, learning new languages, being around family and friends as well as dancing of course!

Wendy Wood


Receptionist

Wendy brings 40 years of experience in secretarial and customer service. Wendy lives in Beachlands and works in both our Pakuranga practice and the Beachlands practice.

Wendy has 14 grandchildren so someone always needs babysitting on weekends!

Carolyn Steele


Receptionist

Carolyn lives locally in Northpark, having previously lived in Bucklands Beach. She has been a patient of the Pakuranga clinic over many years and now enjoys being on the other side of the desk, providing efficient and friendly service to our patients.

Outside of work Carolyn enjoys all sport, playing tennis and supporting family in their sporting endeavours.
